The Lights Above The Mary Celeste
About
They said the Mary Celeste was abandoned.
Captain Briggs left a different account.
In December 1872, the Mary Celeste was found drifting across the Atlantic with no one aboard. Her cargo remained. Her provisions were largely untouched. There was no sign of violence, no wreck, and no explanation for why Captain Benjamin Briggs, his wife, their young daughter, and the crew had vanished.
The mystery has endured for more than 150 years.
Then something is recovered from the Atlantic that should not be there.
Inside is a journal bearing Briggs’s name.
At first, his entries are exactly what history would expect from an experienced sea captain. Weather. Sail. Cargo. Crew. The ordinary concerns of a vessel crossing open water.
Then the lights appear.
Men begin avoiding parts of the deck without knowing why. Voices are heard where no one is standing. Work is completed that no sailor remembers doing. Orders seem to be answered before they are given. Familiar distances aboard the vessel no longer remain familiar.
And Briggs’s young daughter, Sophia, begins noticing things before anyone else.
As the voyage continues, Briggs struggles to record only what he can prove, even as the world aboard the Mary Celeste becomes increasingly difficult to trust.
Because something is happening beyond the lights.
And whatever happened aboard the Mary Celeste may not have ended in 1872.
The vessel returned.
Its people never did.
The Lights Above the Mary Celeste is an atmospheric historical horror novel blending the true mystery of the Mary Celeste with cosmic dread, unexplained phenomena, first-contact suspense, and recovered-journal storytelling.
